The Revent Newsletter: Farewell 2023, Hello 2024!
Dear Reventors & Friends,
We hope everyone’s year is off to a great start! As the Revent team hits the ground running in the new year, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2023 and share with you our plans and predictions for 2024.
2023: Despite geopolitical challenges, a year full of growth for both our Portfolio and Team
Looking back, 2023 was a whirlwind of a year.
The continuing war in Ukraine and the outbreak of the Israel-Gaza conflict deepened the sense of global uncertainty and spurred many of us to do some serious soul-searching. Our hearts remain with these affected communities as we go about our work at Revent.
Despite broader geopolitical challenges, the Revent team was grateful to have much to celebrate throughout the past year. Here’s a selection of what we got up to:
We made 6 new investments, towards:
Deep tech innovation to reduce heavy-emitting fertilizer production, improve soil quality and lower financial burden for farmers: NetZeroNitrogen
New materials and systems for cooling, enabling greener refrigeration and more efficient hydrogen transportation: Magnotherm
Enabling reliable verification of the decarbonization of carbon-intensive industries such as green hydrogen and e-fuels: Atmen
Building more robust financial infrastructure for the carbon removals market: CarbonPool
Decarbonising the economy, with a focus on Scope 3 emissions (to be announced)
Digitizing chronic disease management, based on our research into the chronic care space (to be announced)
6 of our portfolio companies raised successful up-rounds with great co-investors such as Balderton, Box Group, Norrsken, Vorwerk and many more
We launched Revent Reflections, an ongoing series where we share our analyses and thought process in seeking solutions to society’s most pressing problems. These deep dives also led to a new investment in the chronic disease management space. Read our Reflections below:
We hosted multiple events bringing together founder and investor communities in our core areas of climate, energy and healthcare.
Healthtech Connect at Google Berlin

As we reflect on these achievements, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible founders, co-investors, LP’s, and other ecosystem partners that have been instrumental to our journey. Thanks to you all, we are more inspired than ever to continue our work.
2024: The Exciting Road Ahead
Already, 2024 is gearing up to be an incredible ride! For a taste of we’ve been up to in the first three weeks of the new year:
One portfolio company CarbonPool has successfully closed a new financing round! For more details on our thesis behind this investment, see our post below:
Another portfolio company has secured multiple term sheets from top-tier investors for their next round.
We co-hosted a Climate Founders Breakfast with Creandum at their London office, bringing together 25+ top founders building in energy, carbon markets, new materials, agriculture, and more.
Congratulations to our own Rebecca Brill, who has been promoted to Principal after two years of stellar work; Revent would not be where we are today without her!
As we look ahead, we are doubling down on our investment theses, focusing on technological infrastructure - both software and hardware - required for critical market inflections in climate, health, and economic empowerment. In 2024, we will continue to look for solutions that target in particular the following challenges:
Transitioning to a renewable energy supply: software and hardware solutions that can redefine the required infrastructure, processes and legacy systems
Decarbonising heavy industry: Hard-to-abate emissions from sectors such as construction, chemicals, freight etc.
Reaching net zero: closing transparency gaps and realigning incentives throughout value chains to lower emissions and protect other planetary boundaries
Aging population: caring for a growing elderly population with decreasing availability of healthcare providers and caregivers
Transforming labor markets: driven by AI, demographic shift, and the energy transition

While our interests and investments extend beyond these fields, we are convinced that growing pressure in these areas will drive both innovation and market opportunity in 2024. The Revent team remains determined to help visionary founders realize solutions that will enable society to overcome these existential challenges.
We invite you to join us on this journey - stay tuned, as we look forward to sharing our progress with you throughout the year!
